Upcoming Autumn Bonsai Exhibit in Washington, DC

The National Bonsai Foundation is hosting an Autumn Bonsai Exhibit in Washington, DC, this year. Taking place from Oct 29 to Nov 13, it will be on show in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum and within the U.S. National Arboretum. The best part is that entrance is free, but there are some rules you’ll need to adhere to.

It’s bound to be a lovely display to behold, while you can also view other parts of the floral kingdom at the museum. While it will be available for a few weeks, it can be easy to forget in our busy lives these days. Here are the details so you don’t miss out.

Welcome to the Autumn Bonsai Exhibit 2022

It’s not every day you get a free tour of bonsais with a massive exhibit. This year, the National Bonsai Foundation wants to show the small trees in their autumn glory with plenty of colors on display. We’re sure there will be some Japanese Maple bonsais in the collection, as they always present stunning hues in the fall.

Details of the event

This gorgeous Autumn Bonsai Exhibit is taking place at the U.S. National Arboretum and the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, hosted by the National Bonsai Foundation. The dates are from Oct 29 to Nov 13, 2022. You can visit the displays at any time, as long as you follow the museum rules and opening hours.

Planning your visit

It’s essential that you make adequate planning for the day. Firstly, you need to learn the admission rules to the museum. It’s only open from 10 A.M to 4 P.M, so you won’t be able to see the Autumn Bonsai Exhibit at that time.

Also, you might want to have a hearty breakfast or lunch before you pay the exhibit a visit. No food is allowed on the premises, and you also can’t bring any pets along unless they are service animals. Children need to be supervised at all times, as we know how much they love to touch and break things.

About the National Bonsai Foundation

This bonsai foundation was formed in 1982 to assist the U.S. National Arboretum with the financial and maintenance management of the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. It’s a non-profit organization that raises funds and helps support the museum on the grounds as much as possible.

It’s thanks to these efforts that the Autumn Bonsai Exhibit is possible. The foundation has volunteers that assist with the maintenance and care of the bonsai trees, ensuring that they thrive for our viewing pleasure.

Are you ready for an autumn experience?

If I could plan one bonsai trip next year, it would be to the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. To be surrounded by so many small trees in stunning glory would make my heart sing so loud that the highest clouds would hear it. Until then, I’ll continue to share news about these exhibits so that those of you closes to it can make a turn there.

If you do manage to visit the Autumn Bonsai Exhibit, please take some photos and share them with me. I would love to see what will be on display and how much you enjoyed it.

Shaun has two passions in life that combine into an extravagant show on Bonsai Alchemist. The one is for writing and the second bonsais. He’s been writing fantasy and horror novels since 2000, while also creating online content since 2015. He’s involved with writing for films and games. Finally, he’s also the owner of a book publishing company.

He received his first bonsai as a gift in 2009 and has been growing several species in his quiet home in South Africa. He prefers propagating new life instead of buying bonsais at the store. His son and daughter share his love for nature, while his wife stares on at her introverted hermit husband.
